The present study sought to quantify the incidence of unbalanced chromosome rearrangements in blastocyst-stage embryos from individuals harboring a pericentric inversion of chromosome 1 (PEI-1). The 98 embryos from the 22 PEI-1 inversion carriers were examined for any unbalanced rearrangements and for the presence of overall aneuploidy. Logistic regression analysis demonstrated a statistically significant link between the ratio of inverted segment size relative to chromosome length and the incidence of unbalanced chromosome rearrangements among PEI-1 carriers (p=0.003). To predict the risk of unbalanced chromosome rearrangement, a critical cut-off value of 36% was determined, with an incidence rate of 20% found within the group falling below this threshold and a markedly higher rate of 327% observed within the 36% group.
